I wanted to continue labelling a series of small storage boxes for which I had used Dymo a long time ago. Unfortunately (or inevitably) neither the modern Dymo characters nor the range of label hues match what I used previously, added to which it seems that the latest generation of labellers can’t be tweaked to alter the character pitch in order to squeeze more information into restricted lengths (which my former, very basic labeller managed to achieve very accurately with only a small amount of manipulation). Not to be defeated, I hit on the idea of setting up a photo-printing template with the aid of Photoshop, using a customised typeface that virtually matches the old Dymo design – and with faux embossing! The resulting appearance is almost indistinguishable from the original. The background colours have been made to resemble the original hues, and I have the flexibility of introducing lots of new shades too. To bring the system to life all I needed was some self-adhesive backed paper to print onto…I am happy with the print quality achievable, although its intensity is just a tad duller than the originals, but not enough to look out of place, especially as the plastic labels I am trying to match showed tonal inconsistencies from batch to batch anyway. The moderate glossiness of the paper reflects light realistically. At 80gsm the paper is quite workable. Had it been perhaps 100gsm, and just that little bit sturdier and more prominent looking, the result would have been even better. So far I have not had any problems with adhesion.I have no hesitation in awarding full marks, and goodbye to plastic labels, methinks!

Ce papier destiné à faire des étiquettes n'est pas vraiment blanc. On dirait un blanc-cassé ou un papier fané par le soleil.Déconseillé.
