$8 is actually pretty pricey for 100 plastic straws. These are way better than a paper stray, and the only functional difference between them and a traditional plastic straw is the color and texture. These won't break down in your drink at all and they confer no taste to it either. I left one in a cup of dirty water overnight and it came out like new.They have a slightly rough, grainy texture. I don't mind. In tiki drinks or punches they kind of give you a wooden/grass straw vibe. You might like that and, and if you don't, the color isn't really that big a deal.One thing: I tried looking into the biodegradability and it generally seems these will degrade in fairly normal conditions. However, while I wish we practiced waste composting at scale in the US, we currently do not in most places, so these will just end up as more trash in the land fill. While I'm sure they'll break down faster than traditional plastic, you shouldn't purchase thinking they'll be dissolving away into fertilizer a month after you throw them out.If you have serious environmental concerns about using straws, I would encourage you to just use straws as little as possible. The US just isn't there yet as far as composing single-use plastic alternatives. But if you absolutely want/need a disposable plastic straw alternative, these are the best I've found so far and absolutely the way to go.

We love to entertain on our wooded property. Environmental imact is important to us. We are happy to offer our guests an alternative to polluting plastic straws. These straws work great and will go into our compost pile. Excellent choice.
