Das Schaumpad roch bei Ankunft wirklich sehr stark chemisch und war in dem Zustand sicherlich nicht für Lebensmittel geeignet. Ich habe sie dann zum Auslüften in einen gut belüfteten Raum gestellt. Nach nur 2-3 Tagen allerdings war die Matte nahezu geruchsneutral, was sicher noch weiter abnehmen wirdIch weiß nun nicht, wie solche Matten sein sollten, aber sie ist fest und gibt zugleich etwas nach. Somit bildet sie eine gute Unterlage zum Ausstechen von Fondant mit entsprechenden Formen. Die Reinigung erledige ich von Hand, in den Geschirrspüler sollte die Matte wohl nicht.Somit ist sie nach der Startschwierigkeit mit dem Geruch letztlich doch brauchbar und somit auch empfehlenswert. Für den anfänglichen Geruch ziehe ich einen Stern ab.

I got this to make petals and flowers from polymer clay. It works great and it is a very nice size. Please excuse the terrible looking polymer clay leaves in my photo…. I was trying out some new cutters and they do not cut well. But the mat worked great to roll them out with a ball tool.I’m very pleased with this mat. It works great and makes rolling out petals and leaves easy. Just be sure you have good cutters to make good petals, leaves and flowers. The mat did have a new plastic smell when I opened the package. It isn’t a bad smell, just a new plastic smell. Think new car smell.

Love this for polymer clay! I have one that came with some tools as a set but was quite small. I love having more space to work with. It did have a new shoe smell upon removing it from the cellophane but that doesn’t interfere with the purposes I use it for. If you use it for food items you may want to let it air out a few days. It should go without saying that it shouldn’t be used for crafting and food. My clay has stained the foam as I expected having prior experience with a smaller one. Overall, I am very pleased with this item and its functionality. It’s well priced for the size.
