Purchased for a heavy duty, 2x6 frame garage ladder. Pleased by the durability and function of these hinges. Note: secured by #12 screws or bolts, 10 on each side.

I wanted to write an unbiased review on these hinges. The hinges thickness is 1/8 of an inch with what feels like a gunpowder coating. The pre drilled holes accept a 1/4 inch fastener, I used machine screws with a washer and nut. The hinges are pretty tight to move so I sprayed pb blaster lubricant spray on the rivet part and they have loosened up a bit. The hinge is strong enough to hold my wooden loft ladder but I think the price of the hinges are too much for what the are especially when you need to buy nuts and bolts.

After using a similar couple of sets to make a custom attic ladder I decided that this kind of hinge would be a good addition to my DIY hardware box. I wanted to make a custom chaise for Mother's Day (the outdoor sunning kind) and this hinge works perfectly to keep the long side boards looking perfectly flush when it is laid flat.The hinges are joined by what I'll call a rivet. They turn smoothly but not freely, exactly what I'm looking for.The plates operate in the same plane, also perfect for my needs.The finish is sufficient for an attic ladder, but I'll be sprucing it up with an extra coat to make sure it holds up to outdoor use.

The photos show two sets of brackets. In order to do attic stairs, you will need two sets. These brackets are similar to mine, but not an exact replacement. The actual product seems will built, but will not fit all stair units for attic stairs. The finish is nice, and the action is good. Just know if you need new brackets, it's two sets and chack the compatibility first. They don't just fit everything.
