I remember back in the day before SMD's, this way the most used "flux" for soldering jobs. My father always had it around and it passed through generations. Now it seems quite difficult to get.So, i was delighted to find a seller on here actually selling it. Purchased a few tins (will last me a lifetime i think :) )I agree with someone reviewers, the smell...takes u back..toxic fumes some would say, others would say wow that's really going to clean my soldering iron tip & all contact points. Indeed, does the job beautifully. I only had one little job to work on since it arrived & everything was smooth, clean and easy to work with.I'd read things about many experienced people who have mixed a bit with IPA & made their own liquid flux. I am going to try that too for sure.Very very happy with the product. Now, also read reviews wherein some have complained that it is dry and all hardened up. Yes, that is how it is to be. It is like a resin rock..like amber...hard & once it gets a bit of heat will melt down.I did find my tins to also be visually dry so i lightly ran over a heatgun (low heat), i reckon a hair dryer would do it too...and ever so slightly melted it all into place. Now, my only gripe is that the seller could pack better. 4 tins where stuffed into a small bubble jiffy envelope. One tin arrived smashed right in the middle of the top cover, wherein half or more of the rosin had shattered & spilled into the bubble jiffy bag. As a result, when i put my hand in to remove the tins, i go all sticky with little "crystals" of rosin all on my fingers, nails & floor..very messy affair and not the easiest to clean. This got resolved with a quick conversation with the seller so brownie points there again.Overall, very happy with my purchase & the quality of the rosin. ITS NOT PASTE, ITS SOLID AMBER/RESIN LIKE ROCK.If you're around 30yo like me you might noticed that two things don't smell as good by the time you're allowed to play with them as they did in childhood. Old leaded petrol and soldering. This stuff bring me back to childhood where my uncle was showing me basics of electronics, I soldered some stuff on our old commodore c64.It works great just to dip hot iron in it, you can melt it with iron and dip end of cables in it, you can crush it and place small rock on PCB you're soldering and lastly you can mix it with alcohol in various proportions to achieve flux liquid/gel/paste.It's used by musicians to "lubricate" strings in many instruments.

Takes me back to my childhood before transistors were a thing. Can be used 'as is' by dipping a hot soldering iron in it or placing small flakes of it on the parts to be soldered.I mainly mix it with isopropanol/rubbing alcohol to make 3 flux mixes. A very thin water-like mix, thick paste and one the thickness of glycerin, each viscosity is useful for different applications, such as dipping wires or pipes (paste), SMD preparation(glycerin-like) and getting inside PCB holes (thin mix).I use empty vape containers to mix and apply the 2 thinner mixes, these are perfect as they are small and have a thin nozzle good for working on cramped circuit boards.2 40 gram tins will last the average person years of hobbyist electronic work.

Yeah, this rosin is great for electronic and electrical soldering jobs.I used a mortar and pestle and ground it into a fine dust.I mixed a couple of tea spoons of rosin with some 99% isopropyl alcohol. It took roughly hour for the rosin bits to disappear and blend together with the alcohol.I got it to a syrup consistency, which was a bit too viscous. I thinned it down some more until it was runny and less viscous. Avoid making it thin like water.Applied with an art paint brush.
