These were to accommodate switches and indicator lights which come in a variety of random diameters, not always matching the sizes in a standard drill set. Also when inserting a LED indicator directly in a panel it is nice to ream the hole to the exact size for the particular diode being used - the 3mm tip is ideal for this.This reamer has a steeper taper than the ones I used previously and the hardness would not be suitable for stainless, but with a bit of paraffin to ease it on its way, it will do a good job in aluminium.If you are working in sheet material and the conical shape of the finished hole isn’t to your liking it is often possible to attack it from both sides reducing the effect by half.The reamer comes with a T-bar for hand operation and that is primarily how I will use it. An alternative would be to use it in an electric screwdriver with the hex shaft, but I recommend using a very slow speed.
