These are similar is size, shape and operation to many other screw-in electric fencing insulators. However, to a cash strapped farmer they have the enormous advantage of costing about half what my usual agricultural merchant would charge. An automatic five stars.The insulators came with an attachment for an electric drill - which ought to allow them to be more easily screwed into fence posts. The attachment consists of a plastic cup with a recess to hold (part of) the plastic insulator. Normally I use a hammer and stout 8" nail. Hammer the nail in about a quarter of an inch to allow the coarse thread of the insulator to get a start, and then reuse the nail as a bar through the middle of the insulator to turn it.It is possible to screw this sort of insulator in place using just a hand, but try more than one and I find it quite painful! The problem with the provided attachment is the recessed slot is a little too wide. Ideally it would very, very lightly grip the insulator. As it is, the insulator falls out unless it is held in place; so it becomes a two handed job. However, with practice, it is very time saving.
