The fundmental is a bit louder, clear and rounder, especially when playing high up the neck, so fret buzz is reduced. The bevel is asymmetric, so the leading edge has a stronger bevel, so it's designed perfectly in that regard. Instantly, tremolo picking is faster and smoother as compared with the red nylon version of the same Jazz III. The tone on the red nylon is a bit more nasaly also, so the Prime Tone material gives a better tone indeed on small strings like the 9's that I use. The grip pattern is also perfectly designed, being symmetrical and consistent in a circular pattern. But unlike with the Max Grip picks, this grip pattern is not so dense and rough that it gets packed with skin cells and dirt. I'd always have to clean the Max Grip picks with an old toothbrush once a week. The extra premium ultex material is also far more durable than anything else you could use, especially nylon.The only negative is that it's dark brown. Literally why is it a tasteful, leathery dark brown? Picks aren't supposed to match your clothes or your home decor. We want them to be bright so that when we put them down or drop them, we can SEE THEM. I had this problem with the Max Grip picks - the black 'stiffo' ones had a better, fatter tone than the red nylon ones, but I'd sometimes lose the black 'uns when I would put them down. But it's not worth docking a star because the picks are so awesome. They're worth the high price because they deliver in every way, hard. They are awesome, and I will never use another pick again for electric guitar.Finally I recommend using this Jazz III even though it feels small at first. That's precisely why it rules - because it is small, there's less play within your grip as compared with the Jazz III XL, which you might prefer at first as a kind of training wheel type thing. Just get the Jazz III, it's objectively the best pick for playing fast. Sharper ones are too sharp. Regular ones are too blunt. If you're using 9s or 10s, 1.4mm is perfect.

Perfect pick for jazz. They have a fantastic grip so they won't fly out of your hand, and are clear, articulate and very smooth on chords - they don't jump out but sit nicely balanced with picked single notes. Has a crisp and well-defined but warm sound unlike the many others I've tried. Definitely special, and worth the premium price. Only one hitch - the colour makes it easy to lose on a dark floor! Highly recommended
