These seed envelopes have a lot going for them. They are resealable, with a gummed area protected by a little strip of waxed paper like the back of a sticker. You could seal the packet with your own tape or you can use this adhesive that is built-in. A combination of both is probably best if you will be transporting these packets around a lot, because the seeds could still get out the corners if you were tossing them around or didn't have them sitting upright. Especially very small seeds might be able to slip out the corners around the adhesive strip if you turn the sealed packet upside down or store it sideways. This is a consideration if you will be using these in a seed bank or other public place where they will be handled by a lot of people or moved around frequently. For very very small seeds like some herbs, you may also need to tape the bottoms of the envelopes because there are very small gaps in the bottom corners. In general, for storing or banking your own seeds, these will be very useful. The top flap is about a quarter inch long and these envelopes are made of paper about the same thickness as a standard seed pouch, thicker than printer paper. For the dwarf sunflower seeds that I put into an envelope and tossed around and shook upside-down, no seeds escaped. These are not waterproof, but that is okay when you are banking seeds that have been collected in a home garden, because they might still contain some moisture and having a waterproof pouch for those seeds can cause issues with mold and fungus, etc. If you are using these to store commercially prepared seeds, you can put them in a mylar bag to keep them airtight, waterproof, and limit the light exposure. The fields on the front of the packet are useful for seed saving. These would be a good gift for a teacher, a gardener, or for anyone interested in sharing seeds.

I was drawn to these seed packets because of their retro design and that they are made from craft paper which is environmentally friendly. There is plenty of space on the front to write the pertinent information about the seed content. Each is self sealing but as you can see from my photo the adhesive does not span the width of the envelope flap so if you are storing small seeds you may want to add your own tape. These would be good for gifting seeds even as party favors (there are 100 in the pack).
