Great power supply

I'm a retired electronics technician. I have built an electronics bench to design, build and test all things electronic. It is full of test equipment as well as shelves full of new and salvaged electronics components. On my test bench, a power supply is of course an essential piece of equipment. There are times however, when a second or even a third one is useful. Especially when building or designing a relatively complicated project. For only $120, you are getting a solid apparently well built power supply with a few bells and whistles my other one doesn't have. A huge 1 3/4 by 2 1/2 inch screen for example. As you well know, all electronics circuit boards and quality of the components are not built equally. So I pulled off the cover of this one to see what I could see. The circuit boards appeared to be built well. There are no sloppy solder joints or loose components as I sometimes find in bargain electronics from China. It doesn't LOOK like it lacks the quality of a higher priced supply.Functionally it shines. As you can see in my pics, large four digit accuracy display. You can easily switch between displays. One gives you more detail, while another follows your output graphically. They include a USB 3.1 5V 1Amp port right on the front which is handy. I often use that as yet another supply to a circuit board while sending a different power to another circuit board. Again, a handy port that doesn't require you to fire up another supply when testing or doing something quick and dirty. Of course it's also yet another USB port to charge phones! They include the ability to hook your supply to your laptop using a USB cable they provide. There is no paper manual. The documentation is all on a tiny thumb drive. Everything is written in clear English and understandable. This appears to be a quality supply at a relatively low price point. So far it has performed great. I have to give this one five stars.

The extent of my electronics knowledge I learned in college physics. I needed a variable power supply to build up some led lights with buck voltage controllers. I was sick of testing stuff using alligator clips and my truck battery.Ordered this for the low price, the nice screen and the output control button. I feel lucky to live in a time when this thing can be had for $85.I’ve had literally no issues with this thing from day one. I plugged it it, switched it on an everything was obvious. I really appreciate the layers of safety:- When turned on the output is off so you can set voltage, current and limits before juicing up your device.- overt limits set separately from settings so I cant accidentally exceed them when fumbling with the dialThe graph of voltage and current over time is useful when watching resistance rise with heat, also when thermal protections are tripped in downstream devices.I tested its voltage and current output with a light bulb and its behavior is as good as my multimeter.Only thing I don’t like are minor ui editing things:- the adjust timeout is too short- the digit editing transitions are in an odd orderOh: it comes with docs and software on a thumb drive. Probably full of malware I haven’t put it in my computer.Fortunately this device is a 100% knockoff of an OWON and owon has good docs online including specs for their spci syntax.Abestop website doesn’t mention this device, has no software, etc. But owon appears to be a real company that makes stuff.

I've been using the AT6301 for a few days so, not a long term review. However, my use case is in charging Lithium Ion / Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. The lithium ion batteries are ebike 20ah and the Lifepo4's are 135ah, so, big batteries. I love the memory function which makes it really easy to add and switch between battery setups. So far I've had no issues. The instructions came on a USB dongle that I didn't even use because the product is super intuitive. The fans are not obnoxiously loud but you will notice them when pushing the unit up into 260 watt range. Before I purchased I did read one customer who said he blew out an anode on his unit while trying to charge big batteries. However, he had purchased the ATM6301 and not the AT6301. Not sure if that makes a difference but thought I'd mention it.

I had been looking at picking up a low-cost power supply for bench-top work for some time. I built my own awhile back using power from a DJI Inspire one battery charger (26V) and it worked well but I wanted something better. What really attracted me to this one was the display and the ability to interface with my computer. While I don’t really use the computer interface often, it’s nice to know it’s there. The display is bright and crisp and easy to read which is a huge plus. Interface is good as well, with values easy to change. Something some manufacturers could learn from (looking at you Hakko).
