Its a bit heavy, but actually lighter then others in this category. Its Abus, so quality is superb. And, it was on a list of supported locks for insurance.

I need a good cable lock for my bicycle in addition of the Cryptonite U-lock. I did a lot research and decided to buy this lock. The weight of this lock on Amazon site is incorrect. You can find the specifications of this lock on the web site of Abus ([...])Abus lists it as 780g. Mine weights 770g (1.12 lb) without the mount. The lock is very plexible with soft rubbery wrap. It can be wrapped around a post of 4 inches in diameter. It comes with a mount, but I am not using it. I leave the lock unlocked in the basket on top the rack. It is faster to lock my bike this way.Abus makes many cable locks; the more secrue, the heavier. This one has acceptable weight with reasonable resurity level, but I would not leave my bike with just this lock by itself. I used it to lock front or rear wheel to the frame or sesure the bike on a large pole which my Cryptonite U-lock is too small to hold on. I like the lock very much.I looked other locks, like the OnGuard cable locks. They are cheaper but do not have enough information for me judge their quality. I will pay a good quality lock for any price to secure my bike.

Good secure lock. Son leaves it at school as it's on the heavier side but ticked the boxes for the insurance
