As a singer, I’ve found this device to be an excellent tool for breath training — and I imagine it would be equally useful for wind instrument players. I was introduced to it through a class with a highly respected vocal coach who specifically recommended this model, and I’m glad I took their advice. It’s simple, effective, and helps build awareness and control over the breath.That said, I do want to raise a concern — not to deduct a star, as the device works very well, but to alert potential buyers. There’s a strong, somewhat chemical odour that comes from the chamber containing the ball (not the PVC straws). Despite washing it thoroughly with soap and even running it through the dishwasher, the smell persists. It's hard to describe, but not exactly something you want to be inhaling deeply during breathwork.I sincerely hope the manufacturer will consider switching to a less odorous material in future versions, because otherwise this is a fantastic product.
