Well I guess it does what it says on the tin... however on the quieter speed (which is why I bought it) the air flow is very poor. I fit the fan with the back-draughts shutter fitted and at 2am I had to get out of bed, torch in hand after turning off electricy, and remove the back-draught fan - every time a gust of wind blew the flaps banged against the fan - not a gentle noise but one that'll keep you awake. Without the back-draught shutter the wind now blows through which might be a problem when it's colder. And finally - the instructions - OMG the writing's so small you need magnifying glass - impossible to follow. And the dip-switches on the fan are so small it took me a while to figure that they even existed. For £90 - to me it feels like a £30 cheap and cheeerful fan. In truth I hate it!And an update. I emailed the company to ask how to change the speed. The instructions are so poor it’s impossible to figure and believe me I tried. Well, 24 hours later no acknowledgement of my email and my guess is I won’t get one.I put a single sheet of toilet paper up against the fan just to see how much suction there is - it barely registered and if I let go of the paper it fell to the floor. The fan is turning and granted it is very quiet - but a quiet fan that doesn’t extract very well and a supplier uninterested in email enquiries. Give this fan a miss. Finally - after 4 weeks and four emails I managed to change the speed of the fan. It's not a switch or anything simple and absolutely nothing in the instructions that arrive explain properly how to do this. It required fine tweezers, dexterity and a hope that you're not breaking anything. My honest opinion - give this fan and this company a miss. Their emails to me to try to explain were as bad as the original instructions.Their instructions could have said (but didn't) "Phil, the pins, or jumpers, that require reconfiguration are buried behind three very tiny and individual black plastic covers. They are hard to see but are located in the top right as per our picture. You'll need a fine pair of tweezers or very small pointed pliers, and gently ease each of the plastic covers off of the hidden pins. Don't worry they feel fragile but they won't break. You then need to replace the plastic covers in the order shown in the included picture. I hope that helps - if not, there's a video here....) - You see... simple communication.

I purchased it as a replacement to my old extractor fan in the bathroom, it was the exact same model and lasted for 10 years

Have had this for 2 years now. It stopped working once, then after clearing some dust it worked for a few more months but now refuses to work entirely. Unreliable, unfortunate, given how quiet and efficient it seems to be.

Generally this is a good fan, quiet and good at extracting. I've got 4 installed and have replaced a few over 10 years. Longevity isn't great, if in heavy use, failures have occurred after 3 to 5 years. However, the most annoying thing is that every few months the fan just stops spinning until you manually push the fan blades. Then it works fine for a few months. Happens to all my fans randomly. Hoped it had been fixed in the latest replacement but it hasn't.

I bought this fan to replace a noisy £25 one which had no backdraught shutter. At £85 I expected it to be good and I am not disappointed. It is very quiet, is heavy and the backdraught shutter fits well. It has one feature not seen on many fans, the ability to delay the action for up to 90 seconds so that a quick in and out of the loo does not activate the fan. So why 4 only stars? The instruction leaflet is a nightmare; so small that even with X2 specs I still needed a magnifying glass to read it. Solution - print and enlarge but one should not have to do this.
