It's not like expected, works only with abelton and not with other brands. No downloads included! Only abelton. Akai website works poorly and lots of missing information about downloads.

E' grande come un portatile da 13 pollici ed e' ideale per controllare Ableton in modalita' live: ha un launcher da 8 traccie x5 e 8 knob che possono essere attribuiti al volo per volume, pan, send, device. Non ha i pad per la batteria (si puo' fare con la tastiera e magari la dinamica e' pure meglio per quanto meno sfizioso) e purtroppo non ha un controllo per pitch e vibrato.Avendo 8 knobs si puo' controllare decentemente anche Kontrol della NI, che e' gratuito nel caso si volessero solo i suoni. I pad lavorano sul canale midi1, la tastiera sul 2, quindi nel caso si puo' infilare qualche controllo / effetto separatamente ma la parte midi NON E' configurabile: ha un impostazione fissa immutabile (che funziona perfettamente con Ableton), non c'e' una utility per la mappatura.La tastiera musicale e' ovviamente pessima, e' pure molto dura IMHO, con solo 2 ottave si fa fatica pure a buttare giu' una linea di accordi ma immagino che questa non sia la sua funzione. Il suo scopo e' di stare davanti al monitor del PC in fase di editing con Ableton, oppure poggiata sul leggio della tastiera "vera" quando fate delle suonate significative. Oppure per pilotare delle basi mentre sunate la chitarra senza avere un metro di tastiera tra i piedi. Per si puo' usare anche per controllare Amplitube, GuitarRig: knobs per volume, gain e equalizzatore e tasti per i preset. Quindi per me e' quasi perfetta: ho un piano digitale pesato che non ha il ben che minimo controllo per il DAW oppure sta davanti al computer grosso con la possibilita' di metter giu' qualche nota. Essendo micro va bene anche per fare una base al volo per chitarra col portatile ed essere portata in giro.Considerando che ha a corredo Ableton con 3/4 pack di strumenti e costa una fischiata e' un giocattolo musicale imperdibile, costa talmente poco che non vale manco la pena sbattersi per cercarla usata. Piuttosto comprate una tastiera da 49 o un piano digitale pesato usato da abbinarle.

Value for money... After 4 yrs still going well

Das Gerät hatte ich für meinen Sohn gekauft, der erst einmal ausprobieren will, was man mit ableton alles machen kann. Und dafür ist es optimal. Schön klein, ordentlich verarbeitet, funktioniert sofort. Für Menschen mit breiteren Fingern ist es nicht geeignet, die Tasten sind schon recht schmal. Ableton lief sofort, die andere "beigelegte" Software haben wir nicht zum Laufen bekommen.

Simply put this seems to be a great little controller especially for the price.Now for a bit more detail.This controller is really for ableton only as its mapped out perfectly for it. So I would suggest other options if you want to use it for another or multiple DAWs. For me that's exactly what i wanted. Within a couple of minutes of plugging it in to the laptop worked perfectly with no hassles with drivers etc. With a quick 20 min session I had some good sounds coming from it. So great for ableton.Size is perfect for a small workspace or for travelling/gigging. Pianists may struggle with the small keys and the feel of them.The keys are a little spongey but for playing bass lines and simple melodies and chords it's perfectly fine. As a non pianist I don't have any issues at all here.The 40 pads on this AREN'T really for use as drum pads they are for triggering you clips in ableton. I assume if you want to you can remap in the software if you want. But for the intended use they are excellent. Aping some of the more expensive controllers like the akai apc40 or abletons own push for a fraction of the price.Finally build quality. Basically its exactly what I'd expect from a company like akai and the price. Yes its plastic but doesn't feel flimsy in any way keys are level and have a consistent feel to them and the pads buttons and knobs feel good.Oh and one last thing. It's a midi controller and WON'T work as a standalone keyboard. So be warned.
