Having just bought a Japanese plane I figured that it was time to give stopping a go in order to get that final finish on my blade and looked at diamond paste of which there is a huge range and cost.And that's why I ended up here. Price was good for a try-out. I figured that if this stuff was okay and worked maybe I'd move onto more expensive stuff once I'd got the hang of it.So I made up a leather strop with a nice bit of oak and some old sofa leather and had at it. First I charged the leather with one full tube and then finish honed my Japanse laminated plane blade.And....it worked a treat. So good in fact that I can't see much point in spending a multiple more on brand name stuff.So, for me, wanting to put that final edge on an already sharp blade this stuff worked very well indeed. I also believe you can use this on honing plates designed for the job but I don't think I need to go that far.
