Adorable game that leads the youngsters right into playing the full Cascadia game! Easy to start with simple rules and add a new challenge as the kids progress in their learning of the game. This is fun for adults and kids alike!

This game is very nice and relaxing, and we love playing it with our son (4.5 years old). The only thing I don't like are paper habitat boards - why not cardboard? It doesn't make sense to have such a fragile element in a board game for kids.

I got this game for my nieces, but one evening I got my teenage brother to try it out with me first so we could figure out how it plays. We had a great time! At first it is a little complicated trying to figure out the set up and game play, since we had never played anything like this style of game, but it is actually really simple to play once you understand what it is all about. The object is simple, with room for creativity in how you build your habitat/world along the way.Instead of following the rules of the limited tiles for a two player game, we just played with all of them so we could build a bigger 'world' and had a lot of fun that way, creating rivers, mountain ranges, and forests where we wanted them! This is definitely for older kids, 6+ like the box says for sure, and even then, it isn't a super flashy or 'exciting' game for some younger attention spans that are used to a lot of stimulation. This is more of a thinking and planning game. There is no aggressive style game play, it is just you choosing tiles and building your habitat/world and then seeing who has the most points at the end (a lot my chance, some by strategy). There are LOTS OF LITTLE PIECES with this game, even though they are cardboard, so be aware with younger kids.Very pretty, visually pleasing, thick cardboard playing pieces and tiles, this is a beautiful and quality game! I love it as a 30+ adult, and so did my teenage brother, and later my mom. She doesn't like 'mean' games, and when we showed her how to play, she said, "Oh! This is a nice, peaceful game!" It has us interested in getting the adult version for sure!

This is a fun game, especially with kids. The animal theme is pleasant and well executed. At around 30 minutes long, it was the right length and level of complexity for my 8 year old and for my non-board game loving wife. I think I would probably prefer the non-junior version of this game myself, but it was nice to be up and running within half an hour of opening the box for the first time. The components are all high quality. There are a lot of cardboard tokens to punch out the first time you play, but the perforations are the best I've seen in a board game. That seems like a weird thing to point out, but it makes a big difference when you can pop out all 200 of those things easily without tearing any of them.

Cascadia Junior is an excellent designed game and almost a carbon copy of the original. The game is slimmed down to be easier for young board gamers to learn and play. I played this with my family as well as our six year old nephew. We were able to set it up, learn it, and play it, in only a short time. Our six-year-old nephew was able to understand and grasp the concept and play with very little help. Everyone enjoyed the game at all ages. Our young nephew, especially loved the placement of animals tokens on his panoramic board. He was excited to flip over the animal tokens to find out his scores at the end of the game for scoring purposes. My family had been playing Cascadia, the original game, since it was first released. I think this is a smart move to broaden the appeal and the hobby to a different market for more enjoyment. I never thought Cascadia was difficult to learn and, play matter-of-fact, I think that’s one of the biggest appeals of the game is it’s easy to teach learn play and bring just about anywhere. This game has very much a “cutesy factor “. The animal cards are double-sided for the basic variant and a slightly different more complex variant to add a small amount of challenge for more experienced players. I think the target market for this is people who do not already on the original Cascadia, as I think that game is already easy to learn and teach young players, I think this is for people who have heard about the game and also have very very young players, and this is an easy game for them to join in on. The game is all made of cardboard, unlike the original with the awesome wooden animal tokens and the bag to pull them out of. Overall, I think this is an excellent buy especially people new to the game.
