My chest size is between 41 and 42 inches, closer to the latter. Normally I take a UK size 42-inch chest jacket. However, the seller emphasises that their sizes are not standard UK sizes, so I ordered a size medium, which is the size the measuring chart suggests. It fits but it is a close fit.I do not usually wear a waistcoat and my initial feeling was that perhaps the size medium might be too tight. I tried a size large to compare the fit, but it was (as the size chart indicates) too large for my build – and nothing looks worse than a waistcoat that is too large. I decided to keep the medium.A waistcoat is intended to be a close fit. Much will depend upon your build. A close fit will look better on someone with a trim figure.I think my initial reservation simply arose from the fact that I was unused to wearing a close fit round my body. It may seem an odd analogy but it’s a bit like wearing shorts. If you’re used to wearing shorts that come to only just above the knee you might initially feel uncomfortable wearing shorts the leg length of which is a few inches higher above the knee, notwithstanding that they actually look much better. In the end, as with many things, it’s a matter of making a mental adjustment.I bought the beige waistcoat. The quality is excellent. I wish that the manufacturer offered a comparable range in a lighter fabric as well.Amazon’s return procedure for the waistcoat I did not keep was quick and easy to use. I took the package to my local post office having printed the bar code Amazon provided (you don’t need to use your mobile phone if you choose not to). Having elected to have the credit applied to my Amazon balance, the refund was processed as soon as the post office had scanned the bar code and the credit applied to my account the same day.
