I put these strings on my electric violin (I have two wood violins). At first, I was not overwhelmed by them. The A string sounded much brighter than the others...it stuck out like a sore thumb. But I kept with them and they settled in after a week. The A string now matches the tone of the set and of course they have finished stretching, so do not need re-tuning as often. The tone is fairly warm and the strings ring for a very long time (mostly noticeable because the violin is electric).Here is a tip for those having trouble with strings snapping. Bring the strings up to tune SLOWLY. If you try to crank them up too quickly, any brand will snap. This is true of all four strings, but especially the E string.Bottom line with Alphayue: They are not Eva's or even Dominants. But they don't cost like those others, either. For an inexpensive set, they are pretty good. I would recommend them for beginners, or even for your backup violin if you are more advanced. They are not bad, really.
