Alto Recorder Songbook - 38 Songs from the Middle Ages for the Alto Recorder in F: + Sounds Online

Great book in and of itself. It’s helpful to me to have the fingerings available as a total beginner. I had the soprano version and liked it so I got this to help me with the fingerings for alto. Disappointment. The fingerings are the same as the soprano (at least on the tunes that I’ve looked at so far). And the notation has been transposed to the notes that these fingerings produce. I rather assumed that the alternative fingerings would be given for the same notes in both books, which would seem to be more useful for someone that needs a book with fingerings, especially if one is going to get both books. But this might be exactly what others prefer…….so I’ve only docked a half a star for that. Shame, I may have bought some other editions for both instruments but the choice to replicate the fingerings and transpose the notes to match rather than the other way round makes the second book redundant to me.
