These are by far my favorite running shoes I've ever put on my feet. Yes, they are thick. Some people aren't going to like that, but they're not for everyone. I, however, really appreciate the shock absorption as well as the overall contour which helps promote a tripod landing, as a running specialist recommended. The wide toe bed allows the foot to properly splay out for optimal weight distribution. In every other pair of running shoes I've had, I always wear down the outer back quadrant of the sole. In a few months' time, it looks like I've put a belt sander to my shoes. But not with these, because they promote proper landings. After months of wear, they still feel great and aren't showing that kind of wear.I have been rehabbing a bad ankle (last year I was really over-doing it with my high-impact HIIT exercises, which caused a bunch of soft tissue inflammation in my ankle), and nothing gives me the arch and heel support that these shoes provide. I've started SLOWLY getting back to running, and I've found that as long as I don't increase my distance too much from one week to the next, my ankle feels fine and dandy after running in these.Here's where you might not like these shoes: If you run with a toe-first strike, you might not get that from these. If you are running over a lot of grass or uneven terrain, then balance might be an issue. And while they're not heavy at all, certain types of runners just may not find these to be the best thing for their particular avenue of running. But if you do a lot of hard-surface running like me, you should give these a shot.I'm surprised I haven't seen more doctors/nurses/etc. wearing these, but maybe people just don't know about them yet. I went ahead and bought a second pair just to have in case these get discontinued.I bought my husband a pair of these, and he hasn't gone back to his previous running shoes, not even once. This is a guy who had a bad back injury 4 years ago and has just now been able to start running (slowly) without causing pain in his back.

This is the second time I have tried Altra and for some reason my feet just don’t like something about the footbed. I usually wear Birks and I have a regular heel, regular but thick midfoot with a high arch, and a forefoot that splays out pretty wide when standing and walking. While these Altras were cushy like Hoka, there’s just something about the way my foot sits in it that feels off balance. Another reviewer mentioned Topo, which I had never heard of before—and bless that reviewer because those ones are perfect! I sent these back. Hoka in size wide is better than Altra. With that said, my husband likes his Altras, so it just depends on your foot.

I was instructed to purchase this brand and style of shoe about 6 1/2 years ago, after spending quite some time in a “boot” following a terrible fracture to my big toe. When I first put that pair on and tried to walk, it definitely felt unusual. The zero drop & the thick soles were a huge (but sooo welcome) change to how other shoes had felt. I quickly adjusted and I soon decided that I would never buy another brand/style of athletic shoe again. That first pair held up for several years (maybe 5?). Now they are my yardwork/project/chores shoes & are still in very decent condition.I purchased this pair to replace them, and I think this version is even better than my previous pair. Sure, the color combinations are sometimes outlandish, but…I’m into FUNCTION over FORM. The more I age, the more I respect my feet and treat them well.If you’re looking for a shoe with a nice wide toe box (spread those piggies out), extreme cushioning (your plantar’s plate will thank you), and zero drop (your knees, hips, and back will be so much happier), this is your shoe!

I’m an ER nurse and always looking for comfy shoes to add to my rotation. These are by far the comfiest. I love the wide toe box. These are the only shoes I can wear for 12 hours that don’t make my toes hurt. I just wish they had more color options.

Very comfortable sneaker with wide toe box. The sneaker fits perfectly for my feet without having anyformbof discomfort after wearing it for over 12 hours also great atability for walking and very good quality and light weight. I like the color and the durability where I could use it tor walking and running.
