This stand is sturdy enough to hold my studio flash in place even at its highest setting. And it goes high! It’s made from fairly large diameter stainless steel tubing. Despite this it is not too heavy for taking with you on an outdoor shoot.The adjusters are also solidly made and hold their position well. The base has a wide spread making adding to the stable feel of the stand. It has a double ended standard spigot for fitting the light onto. One end has a 3/8” thread and the other end has a 1/4” thread, so all options are catered for. The top fitting of the stand has vertical and horizontal holes for the spigot, allowing the strobe to be positioned pretty much where you want it.The column has springs at each section to take the shock out of a rapidly descending flash head should you loosen the locking screws without holding the upper sections (or accidentally). This is okay, but allows the column to bounce a little because there is no damping to the spring, such as the air damping found on more expensive stands.This stand is ideal for the home or small studio, whether it would withstand constant use in a busy studio I can’t comment on, but I suspect it would hold its own if used within its capacity.A nice light stand and more than adequate for most people, much better than the lightweight stands that are supplied with the low end lights.
