I am so stoked to have this set. I really wanted to bake something better than banana bread and this has everything a beginner like me need.I looked into traditional bread baskets and worry about having to wash the cloth or the basket, getting into the nooks between the weave that I can't get to. It was just all so intimidating. Professionals may look down on this but I think it acts as a good launch pad for my new hobby! Yes there was is a smell but a good round of thorough scrubbing did the trick.The fact that the basket is collapsable earns lots of points from me. I think as most bakers know, the tools... they pile up! To be able to store it flat is [insert angel choir singing here].I love that there are so many tools provided. A great metal scraper and most importantly the dough cutter that makes the dough looking beautiful (I still need practice on that but that's a user error).I am not sure if I will bake it in the basket, though it's tempting. I feel like in terms of temperature, it is not suitable because it's meant to hold heat and silicone tends to insulate. Also I'm worried how the silicone would react to the heat, especially as high temp as bread baking.

I purchased this sourdough proving basket hoping it would make my baking easier, but it has been nothing but a disappointment. This is not a proper banneton; it’s a silicone/rubber basket, and every single loaf I’ve attempted to prove in it has stuck—despite my best efforts.I’ve tried four different loaves now, each time using an excessive amount of flour to prevent sticking, but it’s just wasteful and ineffective. I even tried proving the dough in the fridge to develop a skin, but nothing works. The dough sticks every time, ruining the shape of the loaf and making cleanup a nightmare.This product simply isn’t fit for purpose. I would not recommend it to anyone serious about sourdough baking. Invest in a proper banneton instead—you’ll save yourself a lot of frustration.

This is a great ‘all you need’ set. Silicone is an interesting choise for a proofing basket if you find your wooden ones are getting old / breaking, or if the dough is sticking. The upside is that a silicone one is easily washable and less sticking, and this one takes up minimal space, the downside is that its’ not sturdy or firm, and less so if it’s heated for baking.The tools are sufficient, you get a useable cutter and some blades for shaping and design, they work well, just be really careful using them, watch some videos on how to use if you never have, and don’t underestimate how sharp they are. I would not even have these out if there were young kids around.Since this did have some off gassing, I’m not sure I would want to use it in baking, just a note.This is a great intro kit to try to see if you’ll be a ‘try it a few times’ baker, or a ‘bake every day’ enthusiast. Keep in mind, those who use it frequently will likely want to upgrade at some point, or at least used something else for baking.
