I'm not exactly a beginner but I am also not by any means a great pool player. I have been playing for a very long time but I am not particularly skilled. Haha. It isn't that I am horrible at it; I play pretty well for a hobbyist and probably better than most women (which is half luck due to my understanding of geometry and only half skill, I assure you, due to repetition over the years) but I play fairly regularly for fun at the homes of family members and friends with pool tables, and at bars/clubs sometimes as well. I do not play professionally by any stretch of the imagination. But for many years, we had pool tables in our homes so I got used to playing regularly and even though I no longer have a table at home, I still really like using a good quality cue and being able to bring my own cue when I'm going to play at someone else's house or out at a bar or club.This cue checks all the boxes for me: length, weight, balance, sturdiness, hard maple wood shaft, excellent quality, portable, affordable, and it is fashionable to boot!This is a 19 ounce cue, 58 inches in length. I am 5'8" so both the length and the weight are perfect for me. It feels good in my hands, it has a very satisfying balance, and it is perfectly straight and true. When rolling it on a perfectly flat surface to test it, this cue was dead-on level with zero wobble. When I played at a friend's place over Christmas, it again tested perfectly with zero wobble on the pool table and it shot straight and true. I hate to admit it but all misses and all bad shots were attributable solely to "user error" (i.e., me) and not at all attribuable to the cue. Lol.The shaft is made of maple, which is important to me because with a shaft made of high quality hardwood, that means I can expect this cue to last a good long time without any warping -- unlike cues made with lower-end materials like aluminum, fiberglass, titanium, etc. This cue also looks fantastic with its linen-look fabric covered grip in a pattern and colour that really appeals to me. This grip material also serves to absorb moisture from your hands without the stick becoming slippery or slick, which can happen over time with grips made of rubber or other materials.The tip is 13 mm. and flat, which is fairly standard for recreational cues, so I think that most recreational players will find this a good size and shape for them.The two piece design makes this cue easily portable. It does not come with a case so that is something that would have to be purchased separately if you don't already have one and you plan on taking this beauty on the road. The steel screw mechanism is smooth and exact, so when you screw the two parts together, everything remains straight and true.The quality of this cue is excellent and I would have expected to pay a lot more for this level of quality. I am very happy with it and am pleased to recommend it to anyone who wants to play recreationally or who wants an excellent cue at a very reasonable price to start out and hone their skills towards a professional dream they may have. In my opinion, you won't go wrong with this terrific cue at this terrific price.
