I have a 1.25" filter wheel that I use for imaging and variable star research. The 1.25" filter wheel is quite light even with the 5 UBVRI filters installed. I expected my new 2" filter wheel would also be on the light side. I was surprised as to the hefty nature for this two inch filter wheel. I needed this 2 inch filter wheel to install the 5 2-inch visual filters I've had for some time. I purchased the Celestron 2 inch eyepiece kit which included 5 2-inch filters. Since this kit did not contain a neutral density filter I ordered one and am waiting for the shipment to arrive. So, I left one slot open for the neutral density filter.Opening the filter wheel was easy and straight forward. However, the hex key supplied is small and not easy for me to use. Fortunately, I have a set of handled hex keys that made opening the cover easy.My filters screwed in with ease and I replaced the back plate. Now, it is time for me to attach this manual filter wheel to one of my telescopes and see how well the adapters that came with the filter wheel work. As you can see in these images the process is a bit different. The attachment with the CCD camera worked right out of the box. For the star diagonal/eyepiece attachment I had to use my adapter that came with the star diagonal from the SCT screw on to the standard insert that slide into the motorized focuser.The mechanism that you use to rotate the filter wheel is a bit stiff. This may be difficult to rotate the filter wheel by hand, at night and in the cold. Especially with someone who has arthritis in the hands and fingers. Otherwise rotating to the next filter, one hears a click which indicates the filter chosen is in proper place for use.I'm now ready to try it under the stars!

I received the wheel and was impressed at how sturdy this feels in my hands it is made of good material. It rotates with ease no sounds of scraping or binding when rotating through the different slots. Looks like all the pieces were in the box but I had to figure out on my own that some of the adapter pieces screwed apart before I could manage to get it fitted to my zwo camera and scope. I thought I was going to have to send it back till I realized that the adapter pieces came apart and I was able to use some of my own adapters to get it fitted. Another problem I had was that I could not get the allen key provided to unscrew the filter wheel. It is to small and just turns in the screws and never looses any of the screws. They may have been stripped prior to me receiving by someone else. Since I could not open the filter wheel I unscrewed the adapters from both sides of the openings and then it made a large enough opening for me to drop in my filters one by one and screw them into the threaded holes carefully. I was going to give a 3 star rating but since it seems to be working fine after getting my filters in I decided to raise to a 4 star. I will test on scope soon and change rating if needed.

This review is for the Astromania 2" Multiple 5-Position Filter Wheel.I received the filter within the time frame stated by Amazon, so no problem there.The box contained the filter wheel along with all the adapters and accessories noted in the listing.The item did not come with any printed documentation whatsoever. A simple mechanical drawing with the dimensions would really be helpful. But hey, that's why we have our own calipers and micrometers, right?The 'dust covers/plugs' that came in the box I received don't actually fit anything that is included with the filter wheel, so they are totally useless.The two things that were the real deal breakers for me:1) massive light leakage that enters the filter wheel body around the filter selection knob.2) Play in the filter selection mechanism.Might be fine for someone who is just doing some casual observing, but for any serious imaging I couldn't recommend.
