Snelle instap NAS die prima geschikt is voor data-opslag, synchroniseren naar cloud diensten, download center etc. Fotobeheer is eenvoudig, makkelijk foto's uploaden en terugzien via een app.Het afspelen van content is waar ik de NAS veel voor gebruik en dit gaat gewoon super vlot. Geen problemen hiermee ondervonden.Er zijn tal van apps beschikbaar op de NAS zelf, en de NAS kan Docker draaien om nog veel meer applicaties te gebruiken.De Asustor is mooi compact, niet veel groter dan 4 disken naast elkaar. Zet 'm in een (meter)kast en je hebt er geen omkijken naar. De NAS is stil en de disken worden goed koel gehouden door de ingebouwde koeling.

You are getting all the features of de Asustor ADM OS , but the hardware is definately on the low end, and it is mostly the RAM that is lacking, lacking A LOT, and if you want to use Docker apps for photo and video streaming the processor will be lacking too. However if you just need a good data storage with secure and versatile options for connectivity, it does amazing job. I am using it purely as backup NAS and use 5 different protocols to connect to it for different servers and it all works perfect straight out of the box.

I bought this NAS to put hard drives from my ex-desktop, which I don't have anymore, but I kept the drives. From day one it failed updating. The support guy had no idea why, he connected to the system remotely. He noticed some S.M.A.R.T. errors on the disks, so he concluded : "it is the disks".OK, I bought two new hard drives, Crucial MX500 1TB SSD drives, but problem persisted. I lived like that for a while, but I had continues issues with the system, things that stopped working, so I really needed to update.New ticket, new support guy : "those Crucial MX500 drives are not compatible". Why? "They are not on the compatibility list". Well, compatibility list is a list of "recommended drives, because they were tested with the NAS". And it is just few models made by Toshiba, Western Digital, Seagate. So, according to the guy, if it is not on the list "it is not compatible", so forget about using drives made by Crucial, Intel, Samsung, Sandisk, OCZ, etc. They are not compatible. Absurd. I tried with my other drives, Seagate, Western Digital, OCZ, problem persisted.The window for returning to Amazon had expired, so I needed an RMA from Asustor, but they were refusing, for using "non compatible drives".In the end I contacted Amazon's customer support, they sent me a shipping label to return it and they will refund my money, Simply. Why make things difficult to customers?The Asustor support guy did not want to help me, just wanted to blame me to not approve RMA and close the issue.I spent more on a QNAP NAS and I will never buy Asustor NAS again. Be warned about their technical support.

I have my own servers that help me host my Plex libraries, backup my PCs, etc, and this is just far easier to use, manage and has great support, patches and updates to keep it running smoothly. A great option that doesn't take up space, uses minimal electricity, and with the right size hard drives (not included), you can create a pretty powerful cube of storage. With other apps from ASUSTOR, you can back up your PCs (Windows is what I use, not sure about Macs), has other apps for managing photos, sharing with others on the internet, etc. Support lifecycle seems decent, so I'll always suggest getting one of the latest units vs. an older unit that could be desupported in a few years, always check with the manufacturer.

I got this along with 4 WD Red NAS 4TB drives to replace an aging Synology NAS. As I mainly needed a backup storage target, I chose this Asustor DriveStor 4 Pro. Easy setup, and the 2.5gbps NIC makes a huge difference (as long as your network supports that speed). The Asustor backup clients for PC works very well and has allowed me to drop my subscriptions for Acronis and Carbonite. So, this will eventually pay for itself. If you are looking for a NAS to host and run a lot of applications, this may not be the best choice, but if you are looking for a robust backup solution for your home, then this is highly recommended.
