I've used these hinges several times.It's important to use a jig when drilling the holes, so that the hinges are parallel.See first photo. The wood here is 12mm thick, & the hinge centres (when opened) are also 12mm.The 1mm shim offsets the hinge 0.5mm, so that there is 1mm space between the 2 parts of the box when fully opened (180°).The 2mm shims are necessary because this jig would not close up enough to grip the wood.Do a test run on a couple of spare pieces of wood first. No need to risk messing up your nice box!To simplify inserting the hinges, counter-drill the 8mm holes at 8.5mm to a depth of 2-3mm.Fix the hinges with the supplied screws, or with a drop of adhesive.
