I purchased this compact CD player to give new life to my beloved but too often ignored CD collection. It is a generic mass-produced unit on offer from different companies, including August. With the justified popularity of their excellent headphones, I was intrigued that they would put their brand on this CD unit, but it really is featured-packed. Importantly for me, its Bluetooth transmitter connects with my Wiim Ultra where competitor players did not, and it performs without any drop out problems. The player handles 100-minute CD-Rs without a hitch, including those recorded in MP3. The onboard speakers are loud but are not to the August standard I am used to with their brilliant headsets. The EQ settings offer tweaks but are pretty gimmicky in my opinion. Still, the sound quality is very satisfying when played through my old Technics HiFi via Bluetooth or Aux, with convincing treble, mids, and bass tones. The lack of FM radio isn't an issue for me, but it is a feature offered by competitor units on Amazon; yes, the same ones that couldn't connect to my Wiim. The remote control is tiny but functional and the range is great, whether the player is on its included stand or lying flat, working at least twenty feet from my sofa. Fab! The onboard rechargeable battery adds to the unit's portability, which is appreciated. The overall build quality and design are practical and functional rather than anything flashy. The little colour screen is useful for navigation purposes. Most functions are accessed on the body of the player or, like Bluetooth transmission, work via the remote. The included headset is a surprise bonus at the voucher £34 asking price. A bargain! The only negatives are that the lid/dust cover sometimes need more than one press of the release button, and I can hear the laser scanning the playing discs, but this is mostly unobtrusive. Overall, this is a worthwhile CD player with good versatile functionality and portability, and it's at a low price. Personally, I see no point in buying a more expensive alternative with half of the features.

Ich habe den SE15 von August ursprünglich aus Nostalgie bestellt – um mal wieder meine alten CDs zu hören. Aber ich war ehrlich überrascht, wie durchdacht und modern das Gerät ist. Man merkt sofort: Hier wurde nicht einfach nur ein CD-Player neu aufgelegt, sondern ein echtes All-in-One-Gerät entwickelt.Ich nutze ihn im Homeoffice: morgens läuft Radio über Bluetooth, mittags Musik von USB oder direkt von CD, und abends höre ich Podcasts über den AUX-Eingang. Die integrierten Lautsprecher liefern für die Größe wirklich soliden Sound, vor allem wenn man im Equalizer ein bisschen anpasst – Bass lässt sich gut verstärken. Überrascht war ich auch von der langen Akkulaufzeit, die wirklich mehrere Tage hält.Fernbedienung funktioniert tadellos, der CD-Deckel öffnet sich zuverlässig, und selbst bei älteren gebrannten MP3-CDs hatte ich keine Probleme.Wer ein flexibles Musikgerät für daheim, Büro oder Reise sucht – und dabei auf CD, USB und Bluetooth setzen will – macht mit dem SE15 alles richtig. Ein echter Geheimtipp für Musikliebhaber mit einer Vorliebe für physische Medien!

Streaming ist sehr praktisch, keine Frage. Aber gerade für Menschen mit einer CD-Sammlung ist es inzwischen ziemlich umständlich Musik von CD zu hören. Da kommt dieser tragbare Player ganz gelegen. Aufgeladen wird er per USB-C-Kabel. Der eingebaute Lautsprecher ist nicht gut, aber es lassen sich per Kabel oder Bluetooth Kopfhörer oder Boxen anschließen und dann ist der Klang kein Problem mehr. Das Gerät macht einen sehr billigen Plastik Eindruck, aber es erfüllt seinen Zweck. Das Wechseln der CDs dürfte gerne leichter gehen, eine Schublade wäre schöner als das Aufklappen, aber es ist okay.
