I bought this saw on a whim as I have tried pull saws before (cheap Irwin models) and hated them as they were hopeless but have read a lot of good things about the Japanese saws and given this saw is backed I thought I would give a pull saw once last chance.I love it... I have raved about it all day. I cut a lot of through dovetails and tenon joints and for dovetails (haven't tried tenons yet) this saw is a total dream to use. Absolutely no difficulties in starting cuts you don't even have to angle it to the front or back to start the cut as you would do with Western style saws you just set it you knife line and pull and the saw does it all for you.The long handle which I thought would get in the way especially on finer cuts such as small dovetails is actually really useful and not in anyway cumbersome. On bigger cuts the long handle allows for two handed operation to really get the power down but on finer cuts it really balances the saw out making it very easy to get square cuts. The kerf of this saw is really fine and leaves a really smooth finish. Also the long handle is very comfortable and I sawed for hours with it today with no cramp which compared to a the Western style dovetail saws and that pistol style grip which cramps my hand badly after cutting only a few joints.I happened to receive a Western style Vertias dovetail saw today along with this one. This isn't a review of the Vertias saw and it's a good enough saw but nothing compared to the Augusta and it was twice the price.Definitely going to buy the various different Japanese saws over the coming months and phase out all my Western saws in favor of these. Can't wait to try a bigger rip cut version to see how it performs.Well worth the money and delighted I decided to try pull saws once again.

Consigliata.
