I'm new to digital modes. I've been a radio ham for years, but have had a 17 year break and just coming back. Digital modes are all new to me. I already had a Raspberry Pi 2b lying around unused, so I bought this radio module for it. It arrived promptly, I installed Pi-Star and was up and running talking to 2 British stations and an Australian on CQ-UK via my Yaesu FT-70d hand held from my office. The Aussie was using his local repeater in Adelaide and was right by the beach.It couldn't have been easier to set up and it has opened up a whole new world of ham radio that I haven't previously experienced.There are 2 versions, one with and one without the screen. The screen is tiny and not that much use, however, for the very small extra amount, I would get the screen as it gives you status info like callsign, mode (ie Fusion, DMR, DSTAR etc) but more importantly, the IP address, so if you connect it to your phone hotspot, you might have to know the current IP. It also flashes in to life when someone connects to the group you have configured, even if your radio is off. So you can easily see if there is activity without leaving your radio on 24/7.Hope that helps!73, G7IZR
