Bought this product a while ago and briefly tested it for a few seconds and it was working fine. But then I looked closer...For a start, the "circuit breaker" they provide is rated at 63 A. But the heater is rated at 800 W for 12 V, so should be able to take about 66.7 A - even more if you account for potential voltage drop across the battery / generator. Also, the breaker they supply is advertised as AC, not DC...this is dangerous.But there is more. I opened up the box, and found two tiny cables wired to the two heating elements in parallel. Each cable looked like they were around 2.5 mm2 in cross section, so 5 mm2 combined - this will definitely not take 63 A, let alone 66.7 A or higher. The cables are overloaded and not adequately protected - this is a fire hazard. Even worse - I undid the connections and found that the cables had been damaged during insulation stripping, resulting in some strands being cut, lowering the current carrying capacity of the cables even more.But that's still not all... at that stage I was definitely not going to use that product, so I opened up the circuit breaker, which felt suspiciously light. And I found that ... it has no over-current mechanism AT ALL. The part where the tripping mechanism is meant to be is simply empty. It is only a simple switch....which may be its intended purpose. But even so - it does not even have an arc extinction mechanism, and it is rather dangerous to supply a 63+ A device plugged into a 12 V battery with no integrated overcurrent protection.Unless the product I received is an anomaly and not representative of the actual stock they sell, I don't understand how this product can meet any standard. It says manufactured in China - I am not familiar with Chinese standards, but I highly doubt that this product would meet any UK standard.I would strongly advise against using it, or at least for more than a couple of minutes at best.
