I chose this Automobile Locksmith key case because from the photos supplied, it appeared to be of good quality. On receipt, I wasn't disappointed, it looks almost indistinguishable from my own genuine GM key case. Also, this particular case is molded so that you can reuse your original GM/Opel emblem. Now for the guts of the operation. It wasn't any where near as simple as some of the videos would have one believe. I obviously started dismantling my genuine GM key case and even using circlip pliers as in the instructional video, mine was an absolute nightmare to separate and it took me almost ten minutes to get the key case apart because of the way the original key case is sealed. So eventually, it came apart and all the parts inside literally fell out. The replacement key case was much easier to separate on account it isn't sealed in the same way. I used an old debit card to prise it apart.I then set about separating my car key blade from the swivel. Knocking out the pin wasn't a 30 second job either. I was worried about breaking the supplied tool, but, eventually, I got the pin out. Similarly, getting the pin out of the blank blade wasn't a quick tap either, but again it came out. My original key blade fitted into the new swivel on the new key case without any issue, tapping the pin back in however, was a bit fiddly, but in it went. So, putting the PCB into the new case wasn't a problem but holding everything together whilst attempting to wind the new spring anti-clockwise to give the required tension and snapping the case together, was for me a bit fiddly, but I got there! I secured the case with the supplied screw. The flip key action is excellent, it snaps in and out perfectly with exactly the right tension. In fact, it's better than my other genuine spare key case. All that was left to do, was remove my Vauxhall badge from the original key case. I followed the advice of another reviewer by squeezing the sides of the original case so it bowed allowing me to remove the emblem without damaging it. I then just inserted it into the molded hole in the new key case. Job done. So, if you're thinking of buying this kit then I'd recommend it. Don't however think it'll be all plain sailing, unless of course you're already an expert in swapping these things out. This so called 5 minute job took me over 20 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. You'd have a job telling the difference between the genuine key case and this one.

This fob is nice and easy to open (unlike my original fob that snapped). The key itself is four components. For ease I will refer to these components as the key, the attachment, the pin (to join the key and attachment) and the button.I thought I could get away with transferring the old key, attachment and pin into the new fob, but the old attachment is slightly different to the new attachment. I couldn't transfer the old button because this had broke. The only solution was to remove the old pin, pull out the key from the attachment and slide it into the new attachment and replace the pin. Unfortunately, they didn't line up perfectly. It took me a long time to gently hammer in the pin.Once this was complete, I had the gruelling task of taking apart the old fob. It should be possible to pry it in half, however mine snapped. I don't know if Vauxhall provided a dodgy fob, but I had to resort to cutting it open with a dremel tool. Once the old fob was opened I was able to take out the circuit board and transfer it to the new fob. It's then easy to insert the spring into the new button, slide in the key and wind it twice before closing the fob. Use the screw provided to secure the fob. I managed to pry off the old Vauxhall logo and place it over the screw so it now looks like a genuine Vauxhall fob. Some tedious work but saves paying Vauxhall £200 for a new key. Worth it in the end.

Used old key blade already removed from the rotation arm knocking old pin out first then use old blade to hold key at right position as in photo then used a 6mm bolt nut to support key arm from been damaged or similar 8mm might be ok then used a small hammer to tap pin out go slow gently till the pin falls out then wiggle side to side to remove blank key blade and note the position of the blade use maker pen if unsure. Then fit it as far as it will go you should be able to see through pin hole hold the new pin you removed with a long nose pliers and gentle tap it into hole you should be ok to tap it in without pliers once it's in abit the use the pin punch upside down large end and tap it in flush use protective glasses . Then to fit circuit board with transponder and buttons remove the button side once you loosen the case but keep you finger pressed on the lock button till it's just about to come apart release key blade so you can hold it in position spring will stay in with a little pressure and as the 4th photo but new part circuit board fits in there the put back together without removing spring and mechanism not as hard as it sounds and fit small screw finger tight thumb and index finger. I didn't need to fit new micro switches as old one's were good but to do this you would need a magnifying glasses low melt solder and a very small amount of flux as to not get in side of switch and good soldering iron and tweezers.

Bought two of these and haven’t been able to change the key due to both tools breaking. Flimsy product
