Good milligram scale

We bought this scale to weigh my wife's puffer capsules, because they quite frequently seemed to be empty. By learning their weights before and after use, we hoped to be able to detect the empty ones before use, so we could return them to the manufacturer.The capsules typically weigh about 0.050 grams full and about 0.045 grams empty, so the difference is only about 5 mg.In use, at first we used the supplied tray, but we soon dispensed with the tray because it seemed easier to position the capsules directly on the scale. We found that the indicated weight began to decrease after about ten seconds only to steady out after a minute or so. The scale turns itself off after about 70 seconds. We therefore waited each time until the last reading before the scale turned off. We made five measurements each time and used the average.After ten days of use, we went on vacation for a month, and while away only a couple of capsules seemed to be empty, so we have not yet used the scale since we returned. Our initial objective of identifying empty capsules before use has therefore not been achieved, but if the problem starts to resume we'll try again and let you know if we succeed in our objective.Despite the fact that we have not (yet) achieved our objective, the scale is amazingly precise and repeatable. For this type of weighing at this price it is to be recommended.
