Where to start with this. Misleading on several points:1. Description states 3.3V, but after ordering you receive some eDocs by email specifying 5V and showing use with 5V Arduino, NOT a 3.3V device like a Rapsberry Pi, Pico (RP2040) etc.2. Regardless, there is NO protective resistor on board, so this will be required externally at your chosen voltage if you don't want to burn out the LED fast. There is no mention of this in the descirption or the eDocs3. There is no datasheet supplied to allow calculation of external protective resistor value. FWIW I measured Vf of ~1.15V with my multimeter. Still no data is specified for typical/max current.4. The middle pin in not connected to anything but an empty solder pad labeled R1. There is another pad connected to the Gnd (-) pin, so you could solder your own resistor between these if you want, but again this isn't mentioned and the connections in the eDocs are still wrong. They say to connect 5V to middle, Ground to right (-) and your Tx logic to left (S) If you do that you will just be using your host Tx logic level (e.g. 3.3V/5V) with zero protective resistance since the LED is connected directly to the left (S) & right (-) pins.5. As above, there is little point in a 3-pin arrangement with Vcc/Ground/Tx since there is no switching circuitry (e.g. transistor/FET) on board, so only two of the three pins are useful regardless of whether you solder your own resistor to the R1 pads. Now, after all that, I did manage to create a working IR sender with these using (3.3V) RP2040 devices and an external circuit using a NPN transistor and (guestimated) protective resisitor. But if you're going to do that you may as well just buy the raw LED components (from a seller who provides a datasheet!) This item is sold as a 3-pin module, so should include that circuit onboard. In the end I bought a Seeed IR transmitter module (SKU 101020026) from another seller which works as intended without the need to build your own external switching circuit.Normally I wouldn't bother to return a low cost item like this, but on this occaison I will on principle. Thank goodness for Amazon's easy returns window and process!
