Arrived in a plan boring box, with the product in clear packaging.The idea behind the product is good and you'd think it would be helpful as bagels (some brands and stores) do not come pre-cut, but when slicing, there’s nothing that you can use to hold or center the bagle so it cuts down the middle perfectly, so either the bagel gets cut at an odd angle or ends up being squashedAnother drawback is the serrated blade. Since it’s designed to push straight down rather than saw through, it often tears the bagel instead of making a clean cut, and a ton of crumbs get onto the blade, cleaning this thing is tricky enough.While it has potential, I can do a better job with a normal bread knife.

The 'Bagel Slicer, Stainless Steel (Black)' arrived in a plain box with a simple instruction sheet.This slicer is an interesting concept but in my opinion fails to achieve its goal. I tried cutting 3 bagels and had similar results in all cases. There is no automatic centralisation of the bagel, so unless it is a tight fit to start with, it can twist which results in wedge shaped halves as can be seen in my pictures.A second issue is the serrated blade, serrated blades work when using a sawing action, for cutting the bagel there is no such action the force is straight down, so the serrated blade ends up tearing the bagel rather than producing a smooth cut.The last issue is cleaning the slicer as the serrated blade collects crumbs there needs to be a simple and easy way to clean it, with the 'how to' included in the instructions.I think with a bit more development this could be a simple solution to evenly slicing bagels, but for now I have only given it a single star rating, as I can do better with a bread knife.
