When this item arrived I was so happy when I opened the parcel. the immediate wave of nostalga was amazing. The packaging for this game is next to none. From the vhs box (With large blockbuster logo) to the fold up blockbuster car park and sign (which act as the games board), I was immediately excited to play the game.I played this game with 10 people with a varying degree of film knowledge, however, this did not seem to matter. Firstly you start by splitting into two teams and setting up the blockbuster car park board - There is also a buzzer/timer (always fun), 2 stacks of 'film cards' and a stack of 'head to head cards' - Both teams then choose a tribute to go 'Head to Head'. This is where the buzzer really gets involved. A 'head to head card' is turned over and it will say the category for the 'head to head', eg. 'a film with tom cruise in'. then pure panic and hover hand (over the buzer) sets in as everyone forgets all knowledge they were previously bragging about. they take in turns of naming a film - within 15 seconds - until there is a victor.next up is the team part. The winner of the head to head gives their team the advantage, they pick 6 'film cards' - which are all just names of films seperated by the genre that film is - and picks the 3 cards they think are the easiest and give the other 3 to the loser. They will then have 30 seconds to convey these films to there team using the following 3 methods (3 cards, 3 methods you can't use the same method for all 3 cards) 1. using one word to describe the film. 2. quoting the film (what is good here is that you don't have to use a real quote, you can make up something that vaguely resembles something from the film) and 3. act out the film. This can get incredibly fun and 'yelly'.The general consensus was everyone wanted to play all night and it has the option of being a fun party game out at the pub or can be played with a small group (min of 4).

Fun game for any film fans! It’s a great team game with head to head rounds. The categories are varied and there’s something suitable for everyone. It’s also the size of a video so easy to transport and take to a party. It doesn’t come with a buzzer but you can download one on your phone (or use one from another Big Potato game).

This game is amazing for groups and family get together because it spans most generations, but there aren't as many movies from the last 10 years or so. We've played it like 5 times now and we could really nise some expansion packs to add variety and for the youngest generation in our family.Only downside of this game is that the buzzer/countdown timer could be louder. Once the group gets going it's kinda hard to hear. Also the box is so funny, I love that it looks like a VHS box but it broke almost immediately. Still mostly usable, but it's taped up. Still giving it 5 stars though cause we love the game so much.

A 2 (or teams of) player game based on films and the blockbuster movie shop. This is an expansion pack, but it can still be used to play the game on its own, without the main game, or small enough to take on holiday. The packaging is a great feature, the fact that it looks like a video in a box is a great idea. Inside you will find a small gaming board, two packs of cards, two card sleeves (to put your secret film in), a pad of white paper (to write your secret film on) and the instructions, everything slots into its own compartment inside, so they are kept tidy when not being used. Be aware when sliding the video box into the sleeve, it only goes one way, with the flap facing out, put it in the wrong way, and you will tear the box getting it out, as I did 🙄.The instructions are easy to follow and the game can be picked up and played straight away.Place the board city side up and take a sleeve and write a movie title on the paper provided and slip it in the sleeve without showing the other player(s).Remove the top 15 movie cards, shuffle the remaining movie cards and ‘late fee’ cards together, then place the 15 movie cards cards back on top. Then place 5 cards on the board. If you don’t have a game buzzer, you can download one via the Big Potato Buzzer App, and select the Blockbuster and Chill mode. Then so only you can see, look at the first card and the other player has to guess the category by shouting out movie names, so if you hold the dinosaur card, they have to shout out films like Jurassic park etc, if they guess right, you can turn over the card on the board, and move onto the next card. You can act out clues if you wish, if your opponent cannot guess a film. If at the end of the game, the secret film was mentioned, you can use this card to help them guess the secret film in the sleeve. Any cards that don’t help identify the secret film can be flipped over showing popcorn, you can use unused popcorn cards to ask for clues. Beware of the ‘late fee’ cards, turn over three of these before you have guessed the secret film and it’s game over. These are just the basics, a more concise set of rules can be found online.A great game for two or teams of players, a great gift idea and I’m happy to recommend.

Easy to learn and pick up quickly. Great funny for movie lovers. My 11 year old finds some of the older movies tricky or ones he's not seen as their not age appropriate. This is our new favourite family game by far. First up is head to head buzzer round for example name "films set on a plane"...you keep naming movies until the buzzer timer runs out and whoever says the last film wins and gets to pick six cards from the movie pile. This contains movies of all types, eight categories in total at random. Keep the three you think you partner can guess and give the hard ones to the opposite team! Three categories, one word hint, quote from movie and Act it out. You place each card where you think your partner will guess the movie on the card from. Sounds a lot but it's really not. You'll love the game like my family of four do.
