I tried this antenna for an UHF porto outside, but almost no reception and the digipeater could not hear me, tried the original rubber duck and all communication was possible, it was standing with the magnet foot in the gutter on an iron plate and one windghust blew it away. You can buy magnets for smokedetectors,glue one under it with the good size and it stands like a rock...not a good roch because the reception was still not possible. I did some mesurement to be sure the cable was okay, only the signal line was soldered in the feet, the ground wire was not connected at all, I had 2 of these and opened the second foot, same, only the positive was connected, no coil or condensor between positive and negative, the ground ( shield) of the cable was just cutted off in the foot. Nice thing for show but not for use on UHF band.

I needed a cheap basic VHF magmount and this fits the bill nicely. It's simply constructed but robust. The mag mount itself is small and almost definitely would not hold to a moving vehicle. There is also a small adhesive pad should you need it although to be effective it does need to mounted onto a metal ground plane For the price it is perfect for my meagre needs and it'll probably last for several years
