This is a very simple device designed to protect equipment from lightning surges. The CR-35RS protector consists of PL259/SO239 connectors making it easy to install with aerial systems of the same connection type.Alternative connectors are available on different models.At 86g in weight, it has a solid feel about it although technically it is a very simple device consisting of a surge arrester element being placed across the terminals (centre pin and earth).Looking at the images it can be seen that the PL/SO input to output connectors are joined simply by a short (what looks like brass) wire bar. The arrester simply rests on the bar held in place with the retainer which earth 's one side.There is very little that can be done to test the effectiveness although I have no doubt it will suppress some surges. It is unlikely to supress a direct lightning strike though.Worthy of note is the item description stating that if the arrester element is damaged it can be easily replaced. I have been unable to find any replacements in the UK. The listing should show how to source them.Value for money, you can't go wrong at just £6.99 at the time of review. Durability is questionable as the device is rendered useless if the element is damaged. At this price though it may be more economical to buy new again.This would have been five stars if the availability of the arrester was made clear.
