This is one of those gadgets that you can't say you really need. But it can be so much fun! Attach it to your toddler and get a whole new perspective on your home life! Can you use it at parties and attach it to your dog/cat? Technically yes and this is also a possible source of fun. Do keep in mind that the line of privacy gets easily blurred with toys/gadgets like this. If you start to use it outside your home, you basically forfeit privacy because if the neighbour does the same you can hardly argue. My advice: have fun with it around the house or on a dog walk, keep it in your pocket around others unless you are absolutely sure they don't mind.
