If a put it directly at the socket, it does detect live cable. But when I move it along the wall (where I know the cable is), it just detects some randomness. A little bit better with metal detection, but still has quite some false positives. I never tried any alternatives, so have no idea if this is common behavior. But I wouldn't recommend this particular model anyways.

Tempi e modalità di consegna perfetti.L'articolo l'ho usato in quanto avevo la necessità di eseguire alcuni fori su una parete per appendere alcuni pensili e delle mensoline.È un apparecchio molto utile e pratico, estremamente semplice da usare.Non è sicuramente indicato in ambito professionale, ma lo ritengo utile per fornire rapidamente delle indicazioni.A volte da dei falsi positivi, ma con la pratica si riesce ad individuarli e gestirli.Per un uso NON professionale...sicuramente lo consiglio.

This is easy to use & effective. The price is worth it to prevent accidental drilling through copper pipes & electrical wires.It finds nails in plasterboard too, so these can be avoiding when drilling holes in a wall. Using the item to be screwed to a wall as a template I always put pencil dots on the wall where the holes are to be drilled & then scan each of these dots to see if there is a nail beneath them. Usually on my first attempt, a least one dot has a nail beneath. I just move each dot to the left or right, or up or down, using the template again & then scan again, repeating this process until there are no beeps. Only then do I start drilling.I am puzzled by reviews that state that this device doesn't work, or is hard to use.
