I was restoring a Victorian cast iron range which was uncovered in my basement. Lots of rust and lumpy layers of lead paint. Arghhh. There were many times I was tempted to simply cover it back up again!! I persevered and as I discovered, wire brushing is hugely messy but this, along with the smaller pencil version really got into all the nooks and crannies. It also removed the residue of the paint remover I used. Hooray! Despite pretty heavy use, I had no wires coming loose and it has plenty of life in in yet.
