The website description and box photo both show that the pad fits a PEX400, but it doesn't. The actual box that it came in does not show it fitting this model either. Very misleading. It needs to be corrected on the website. (see Photos)

This is an excellent replacement backing pad that is a genuine Bosch product and which fits a variety of orbital sanders with the generic model number PEX 400 ae.Unfortunately confusion abounds as to which machine this is for. For some strange reason every time Bosch introduce a new sander they keep the same model number but use a lengthy numbering system to differentiate between them. I suppose it's a bit like the naming of cars. A series one Ford Focus is after all a completely different beast to a series seven (or whatever number they are up to now). I have discovered there are at least nine versions of the PEX 400 ae (there could be more!) starting with the model 0603 310 603 and going up to 0603 310 650. Mine has the number 0603 310 642 and this pad most definitely fits. As mentioned by another contributor the way to ensure this is the correct pad for your sander is to remove the old one and check the number of locating lugs on the mounting. If it has three then you are in business. If four then you will have to look elsewhere.The only other comment I would make is to take care when locating the pad on the lugs. They are not equally spaced and therefore there is only one position that the pad can be fixed to the drive. So don't panic if the pad appears not to locate properly. Simply move it round until the right configuration is reached.
