Boska Easy Grater - Tafelrasp - RVS - Zwart

It is a bit on the smaller side than what I expected, but it still works great.

Used this pretty much every week until it broke. They sent me a new one, and after a few weeks a piece of that plastic boy broke too. 2 stars because of the good service and warranty, but it just threw it away now and bought another brand. This is is too fragile.

I bought the Boska Holland Amsterdam Collection Easy Grater because I needed a grater to make liquid hand soap from soap bars. Since this little grater arrived, I have grated two different bars of soap with it: Ivory (original) and Dove Unscented. Both bars were easy to grate, so the "Easy" label in the title of this grater is spot on. To make the hand soap, I had to add grated soap to boiling water and stir until the soap flakes completely dissolved. The Ivory bar of soap was a bit more challenging to grate, probably because of the ingredients. The Ivory soap flakes stuck more easily to the inside area of the grater, but it was an easy task to remove them. The Dove Unscented bar was very easy to grate, and its flakes did not stick to any area of the grater or built-in container.In addition to getting the job done, the BHAC Easy Grater is easy to hold during the grating process, but be very careful of the metal grater "blades" as this little grater is very sharp, and it is very easy to slice a layer or two of skin from your fingers if you are not careful. I'm happy to say that no blood was shed during the grating process, but I did come close to it. That little heads-up helped me re-position the hand holding the soap so my fingers would not be shredded with the soap bar.One tip about grating is to set the grater on the counter (at an angle) for more stability when grating. While I was grating the Dove bar, I first started by holding the grater in one hand and grating the soap with the other. Because the Dove soap flakes were drier (than the Ivory bar's), the flakes easily flew out of the container while I was grating the soap. I quickly realized that placing the grater on the counter (at an angle so that it is not quite upright) while grating made for an easier task of both grating and containing the flakes in the container. Clearly, figuring out whether to hold the grater or place it on the counter depends on what is being grated.I like the built-in container to hold the soap flakes and the easily removable grater top, which serves as a kind of lid. The container is also easy to empty into a bowl or other type of container. Of course, whether the BHAC Easy Grater is being used for bars of soap or blocks of cheese, the texture of the soap or cheese will make a difference as to how easy or difficult the grating process is.Clean-up of the BHAC Easy Grater is a breeze. I have no idea how easy it would be to clean cheese flakes from it because I've never used it to grate cheese, but I imagine that different kinds of cheese are easier to clean off of the grater than others. I use a plastic brush (one of those round kinds with built-in liquid dish soap) and brush with the blades going downward (going against the blades, like you would with grating cheese or soap, will grate the brush bristles - that's how sharp this little grater is!).The BHAC Easy Grater is small enough (width and length) to fit into the silverware drawer (sitting nicely in one of the tray's compartments). I purposely turn it upside-down so as not to accidentally cut my fingers on the sharp blades when I'm trying to reach for a fork, knife, or spoon. If you want to hang the grater on the wall, the grater has a small hole (about the size of a typical hole-punch) toward the container's opening.In my opinion, the company that made this grater thought of everything. I will probably buy another one to use strictly with food because now I'm curious as to what foods the BHAC Easy Grater can grate: cheese, carrots, apples, etcetera.

Convenient size and collection compartment very handy. Nicely grated cheese, and very easy to clean.
