This is amazing ………. the butter stays soft, you can leave it out for up to 30 days, it does not go rancid. I used to put out a few tablespoons of butter in a small container every other day to always have soft butter, and usually would have to throw some away. This little piece of magic lets me always have fresh soft butter. It does help to let butter soften a bit before placing it in the bell, smash it down with the back of a spoon, put a small amount of water in the container, and there you go. I clean mine each time before I replace with new butter, it is always gone before 30 days anyways. I love putting my Kerry gold butter in this !! It looks nice on the counter, it is sturdy and does not look cheap. I would say it's about the size of a medium grapefruit, as far as counter space it will take up. If you love real butter , but hate waiting for it to get soft, and don't want to worry about butter turning rancid or getting food poisoning then this is for you !!!

Wish I'd known about these things years ago. Before I was just using a plastic butter dish, which doesn't prevent the butter from spoiling before we can finish it.This little butter dish works better than I thought it would. Easy to use and prevents that gross, oxidized outter layer from forming on the butter after it's sat out for a few days. My butter lasts much longer and my dog can't get it at it. Which is a bonus.Only nitpicks I have is it's heavy, and it will definitely break if dropped. And because it's such a tight fit and can be a little tricky pulling the top out of the base.
