great toy for little ones bought it for my grandson as he like noises!

This appeared to be a lovely toy bought for a toddler and opened Christmas morning. Brand new batteries installed but ... nothing happened. Took batteries out and double checked them with a multimeter - all okay. Reinstalled them and the unit worked for a moment and then stopped. Toddler keen to play so we left him to it. When it was working, it was great. Toddler loved it and delighted with himself when he got a song to play. Picked it up very quickly (just under 20 months). But occasionally it wouldn't work if picked up (by adult) and moved. There's no power switch, so it's always on (in theory).Given the cost and the manufacturer this is very poor. It is playable but there are some days when it simply doesn't start working quickly enough for a toddler's attention span and so I fear this will be left on the shelf far too much.
