I ended up buying this Buffalo light commercial mixer from Amazon warehouse, after watching a brand new plastic bodied domestic rated 1500W mixer flex alarmingly as it noisily tried to knead just 1kg of sourdough. The Buffalo is three-times the weight, full metal construction, has proper ball bearings everywhere, comes with a full parts list and is fitted with a quiet and efficient cool running DC motor that consumes about 20% of the electricity of the domestic mixer. There is no flex or creaking as it quietly kneads dough. The Buffalo even looks good. It unobtrusively and effortlessly gets on with kneading dough and it probably will continue to do so for decades in domestic use. Ok, the Buffalo was twice the price of the domestic mixer but in my opinion it is still much better value.
