This is a good quality cable lock that's very handy for locking up a bike, at least in areas where the toughest anti-theft devices aren’t called for. I use mine chiefly for locking up my commuter-bike in (albeit) fairly secure grounds at work, for which it's ideal. This lock would also serve as a very useful secondary lock in those situations that demand it. Worth noting perhaps, is that while this lock is very good for tying up a bike to a 'public bike-parking-rack’ or to an average street sign-post which is fairly thin for example, you'll find its cable length is generally TOO SHORT to go round, or for tying up a bike to the average much wider lamp-post.In my opinion though, this fairly sturdy 15mm Cable Lock will in most cases deter or stop the average thief from running off with a bike, or indeed with anything that can easily be 'run off with'.For a 15mm cable lock, this Burg Wachter Lock has to represent very good value for money, as many similarly-priced cable locks on the market are made using much thinner cable which won't offer the same level of security as this 15mm cable lock does (but it perhaps goes without saying that NONE of the much thinner cable locks which are widely available, are really intended for use as dedicated bike locks as they're far too easily cut-through or simply wrenched-open).For use as a general, everyday bike lock, however, this is very portable and handy to carry around either in a bag or looped around the bike somewhere; it's well-made and I'd definitely recommend it for the price. As a cable lock product, it's very similar to a ‘Kryptonite’ one - but significantly cheaper!
