I used this product to repair leaking Velux roof windows (the 6mm for the bottom of the window and the 8mm for the other sides). This would have gone smoothly, but the rolls of butyl were squashed on multiple sides. Because the rolls were all in the same box during transport and they didn't all have the same dents I think it is fair to say that they didn't get squashed solely during transport (see pictures one and two). The first roll of 6mm I used had the best condition, which is why I don't have a picture of it. Because the rolls were squashed the ends of the butyl tends to stick to the box. The product is still usable, but as you can see in the pictures, the width of the butyl is very inconsistent. Some parts were so thick that applying was a lot more difficult then it should have been.A small change to the packaging could fix this issue, see pictures three and four which are from an official Velux Butyl Sealant kit. This packaging has something to fixate the roll, which did an amazing job. Adding a small piece of cardboard like picture four to the packaging would probably avoid the damage to the butyl and greatly increase customer satisfaction/experience.

Nachdem zwei Nachbarn schon Sorgen mit ihren Abwasserkanalschächten hatten, schon alleine diesen auf einen Waldgrundstück zu finden, haben wir gleich einen neuen leichten Kunststoff-Deckel eingebaut um den gefühlt tonnenschweren Betondeckel im Notfall nicht weg zu hieven. Dieser neue 'Plastik Deckel' musste auf den Betonringen montiert und abgedichtet werden. Silikon kam nicht in Frage, da der Hersteller des neuen Deckels darauf hinwies, dass der Kunststoff des Kanaldeckels damit keine Bindung eingehen würde. Im Netz wurde ich dann auf die Butylschnur aufmerksam und dann hier mit den richtigen Abmessungen fündig. Die Langzeithalbarkeit wird sich zeigen.
