The sharpener that I received was difficult to operate. The handle was hard to turn and did not do that good of a job of sharpening. I wondered if I just received a damaged or defective item. I can’t believe that a pencil sharpener that cost this much would be difficult to use.

desde luego no se ha escatimado en material ni en calidad, es un producto pesado y muy bueno, no necesita siquiera amordazarse a la mesa para su uso.Sin embargo en el mercado hay productos equivalentes a unos precios más baratos.Solo para gente que le gusta esta marca, entre los que yo me encuentro.

Bought this as a gift for my girlfriend's birthday. She is artsy and stuff and she knows her deal pretty well. Upon receiving this she started to try it with different pencils, old and new, some she couldn't use often cause they were old and rare, bought on second hand shops and they were prone to break, she showed me the results with her previous sharpener she had and this one and I could see the difference immediately and yes, this thing does its job pretty darn well, you gotta know how to use it to make the best out of it tho, yet a simple youtube video can help you learn that. It is heavy and sturdy, and I guess that's part of its charm. We haven't had any problems with loose parts or anything. This is for people really into art and that need their utensils to be in top form, otherwise, for a kid for example, that will use it with standard pencils and coloring books, it would be just an overpriced gift, otherwise this is a totally recommended item.

I had one of these a long time ago with a set of Caran d'Ache Primalo coloured pencils and it got nicked. I have had cheaper versions as a replacement but they have never been as good when used for different sorts of pencils. This is an expensive item but if you are using expensive aquarelle or oil based pencils you want to waste as little as possible. This was considerably cheaper on Amazon than on Caran d'Ache's own web shop and I couldn't resist.
