I bought the SkyPortal device to help navigate the skies with my telescope, in search of interesting objects to photograph. Having dealt with years of cables twisting around the tripod as I went from object-to-object, I was really looking for an alternative to the clumsy handheld control that would remove the burden of alignment and pointing. This was the answer! Now I am practically wireless!A couple of tips for those who are considering buying this device:1 - The device creates a very local network between your mobile and the telescope. Don't try to associate it with your local LAN or meddle around with the settings! That's not the purpose of it! I read in some of the reviews people complaining of the signal dropping off, because they somehow meddled with the configuration.2 - Either use an iPad ensuring that it is always set to the Celestron wireless hotspot, or if you use a mobile phone, set it to flight mode. This will ensure that no interference occurs between your 4G/5G network and the Celestron wireless hotspot. You have to always ensure that the connection is seamless, then you will really enjoy navigating the skies with the app!3 - When shooting long exposures, the iPad/mobile device will switch off, no worries! The telescope will continue to track the object you are observing.4 - Once in a while you need to adjust alignments. My experience shows that with any telescope mount this becomes necessary after a while due to many reasons (low power, wind perturbations to the telescope, unwanted movements to the tripod, etc.) The app will allow you to align the object you are observing and will then remember the new setting. If you need to start from scratch, do it! It certainly is a huge improvement to having to set the time and date each time the signal drops off on the hand control, since the app and the device know, via the iPad/phone where you are and what time/date it is! So all you need to do is concentrate on aligning your objects.With these few tips you will enjoy navigating the skies by pointing and clicking on an object in the app and seeing your telescope slew over to that object without the hassle of a handheld control wrapping itself around your telescope!

Je trouve cet appareil vraiment excellent... Combiné à une tablette et la caméra oculaire sur port hdmi sur un écran lcd la combinaison est géniale. En fonction du logiciel que vous installez il y a certaine limites (IOS, Andoid, Win) mais pour moi c 'est le meilleur rapport qualité prix. Je l'utilise depuis quelques semaines et il tient vraiment la route. Parfait...

Muy dificil de configurar correctamente.La mayoría de veces no consigo conectar con Sky Portal y no me reconoce el telescopio.Y no es problema de mi red que es la máxima disponible en velocidad.

This works like a charm. Operates via the SkyPortal app. The app has its limitations but makes it nice an easy to align. An added bonus is that you can use a wedge and the alignment process is the same, you just have to move the barrel down a bit.
