I’m not a big one for writing reviews, but after a year of heavy use this lead absolutely justifies one!I cannot fault this lead at all. I previously had a Flexi Lead for my 10kg Nenets Herding Laika. She sheds like nobody’s business (thick double coat) and after a few months of use it started jamming from the hair trapped in it. The tape opening was so narrow it was impossible to hoover it out. These little dogs have boundless energy and are bred to work all day, so they are strong! She pulls like a train at the start of her walks so I always get leads that can supposedly take double her weight. After 9 months the Flexi broke off at the reel crossing a road.I tried to buy another Flexi but they all had the new “360° Tape Guidance System” opening. I had one of those, a Flexi “Funtime” for my other dog (4kg yorkshire terrier cross) and it was anything but fun. He toddles along, doesn’t pull, but it still jammed every couple of minutes and had to be completely unwound to sort it out. The supposed “anti-jamming” system had the complete opposite effect; no way was I using one for my stronger dog. I don’t trust the cord leads, the point where the short bit of tape joins the cord is another potential weakness.I had a good look through all the available tape retractable leads on Amazon to find an affordable one with decent reviews and no silly tape opening. I settled on this one, and I’m so glad I did! I have used this lead multiple times a day for a year now, for everything from quick toilet breaks to seven mile hikes. Not once has it jammed. Not once has the lock failed. It shows no signs of fraying. The clip still works perfectly. It has been dropped, dragged, trod on, tangled in brambles, rubbed against rough surfaces, no damage. The only maintenance I have done is pulling it right out and hoovering the fluff out of it twice (easily done due to the size of the opening). I can see this lead easily lasting another two-to-three years, or more.After a few months trial of this one I ordered the 3m version for my little dog, and took great pleasure in binning his Flexi “Funtime” lead - the only fun I ever had with that god-awful thing!I cannot recommend these leads highly enough. As always, size up if your dog is strong. Apart from that, you have nothing to worry about :)
